Using the tools
How do I use a formatting tool?
Choose a tool from the searchable Toolbox, paste or type text into Raw input, and review Instant output. Most transformations update as you type; the Format button runs the selected operation again. Read “How this tool parses your data” for details and assumptions. Keep a source copy when the information matters.
Which formats are supported?
The focused workspace includes JSON beautification and minification, CSV/JSON conversion, Base64, URL component encoding, case conversion, line cleanup, HTML entities, hexadecimal text, and slug generation. It is a text utility, not a complete general-purpose file parser. See the formatting guides for examples and limits.
Why does the formatter report an error?
The input may be incomplete or may not follow the selected format’s grammar. Check whether the whole value was copied, then inspect the reported location and the text immediately before it. A parser’s reported position may be where it noticed a problem rather than where the original mistake began. For CSV, verify its delimiter, quote rules, header row, and field counts.
Does successful JSON formatting validate my API payload?
No. Successful parsing means the input is syntactically valid JSON. It does not establish that required fields are present, that values match your API schema, or that the values are correct. Validate against the destination’s current contract and test safely with representative data.
Will CSV conversion detect dates and numbers?
The quick CSV-to-JSON tool intentionally keeps cells as strings. Guessing types can corrupt postal codes, product numbers, identifiers with leading zeroes, and ambiguous dates. Apply explicit, documented type rules after conversion if the receiving system requires typed values.
What if the output looks blank?
Some transformations legitimately produce an empty string for empty or certain inputs. Check the status message, selected operation, and input contents. For operations that remove duplicate or whitespace-only lines, inspect counts before and after. A blank result should not be assumed to mean success without understanding the operation.
Privacy and safety
Does FormatInstant upload my pasted input?
The included quick transformations run in the page in your browser; they do not submit input to a FormatInstant transformation server. This does not control browser extensions, operating-system or employer-managed software, clipboard utilities, network monitoring, or hosting-provider logs. Review the Privacy Policy and only process information in an environment approved for it.
Are survey answers collected or saved?
No. The Data Readiness Survey computes its result locally in the current browser page. Its answers are not transmitted to FormatInstant or saved by the page. Closing or reloading the page clears the responses.
Is Base64 a way to hide a password?
No. Base64 is a reversible encoding, not encryption. Anyone who obtains the encoded value can decode it. Do not use Base64, hexadecimal, URL encoding, or HTML entities to protect secrets. Use approved security controls and never paste sensitive material into an unapproved environment.
Can I paste confidential or regulated data?
Only if you are authorized and your organization has approved the device and workflow. Local processing can reduce data transmission by this app, but it is not a compliance certification and cannot control your browser, extensions, device, or infrastructure. When uncertain, use an approved offline or managed tool and consult your privacy or security team.
Does “local processing” mean the whole website makes no network requests?
No. A browser must request the website’s static files from its host, and a host may keep technical access logs. The application’s formatting functions do not send the entered values to an app server. Inspect the deployed site and network activity if you need to verify its behavior.

No account or payment is required for the current tools. FormatInstant does not include a sign-up or payment flow.
Can I use these pages as legal or security advice?
