What minification changes

JSON Minifier reads the complete input using the browser’s JSON parser, then serializes the resulting value without optional spaces or line breaks. This can reduce the text size used in examples, fixtures, or transport payloads. Structural separators that JSON needs remain in the output. String contents are not simply stripped of every space: whitespace inside a quoted value is data.

Serialization represents the parsed value, not the original byte sequence. It can normalize whitespace and number spelling. Do not use this operation when you need a byte-for-byte copy, and treat large precision-sensitive numbers carefully.

When a minified document is useful

Compact JSON can be practical for a small inline configuration, a test case, or a comparison where formatting noise is distracting. Minification is not compression in the general sense, encryption, or a data-quality check. It may make a document harder for a person to inspect, so keep a readable source when maintaining configuration by hand.

Use and verify the result

1. Select JSON Minifier in the workspace.
2. Provide a complete standard JSON value.
3. Check the output status and confirm expected keys and values.
4. Validate against the consuming application’s schema before using it.
